Posted by Meg Bernazzani on October 16, 2018

Ever wonder which cars sit at the top of shoppers’ wish lists? Millions of car buyers visit CarGurus every month in search of their next vehicle, so we decided to dig into our data to find out. We looked at which makes and models were the most searched in each Canadian province, and, after analyzing all of the car searches on our site in 2018, we found that when it comes to sought-after vehicles, Ford and Toyota lead the way.

The Ford F-Series is in its tenth consecutive year as Canada’s best-selling vehicle line, so it’s no surprise that the dependable F-150 was also one of the most searched vehicles in each of the country’s provinces. Also, making the list in most provinces: the Toyota Rav4 and the Honda Civic, two of the most popular vehicles in Canada.

While big pickup trucks, crossover sport utility vehicles, and reliable sedans dominated car shoppers’ searches on CarGurus, it seems not all Canadians are looking for a practical next purchase. The powerful Ford Mustang cracked the list for all but the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Province. In Ontario, the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class were two of the most sought-after vehicles, while the Northwest Territories and Nunavut saw thousands of searches for the Chevrolet Corvette and Porsche Cayenne.

But, which other vehicles are popular among Canadian car shoppers? Check out our new interactive map for a breakdown of the top 10 most searched for cars in each Canadian province. Whether you need help deciding which vehicles to add to your inventory or you just want to see which vehicles are most popular in your area, it’s a great place to start!
