Though 2021 got off to a turbulent start with Covid restrictions in place across provinces, car shoppers continued to search for and research vehicles online. To see which cars sat at the top of shoppers’ wish lists, we dug into our search data from the first quarter. In particular, we looked at which makes and models were the most searched on CarGurus in each Canadian province and territory.
After analyzing the data, we found that when it comes to sought-after vehicles, the Ford F-150 leads the way. Though it’s no surprise that a pickup truck is in high demand in Canada, this rugged truck claimed the number one slot in all but Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island where it was the second most searched vehicle. The Ram 1500 cracked the top 10 in all provinces and territories as well.
While many Canadian car shoppers seem to be shopping for reliable pickup trucks and crossovers like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, it seems not everyone is looking for a practical next purchase. The powerful Ford Mustang was among the top searches in many provinces, including British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island, where shoppers might be looking to put the pedal to the metal on the open road.
To see which vehicles are the most popular among Canadian car shoppers, check out our interactive map. It includes a breakdown of the top 10 most searched for used cars on CarGurus in each province and territory. Whether you need help deciding which vehicles to add to your inventory or you just want to see what’s popular in your area, it’s a great place to start!
